Eighth 18-tonne DAF joins Quickslide’s fleet

Quickslide has added an eighth DAF box truck to its fleet, in response to continued growing demand for the market-leading fabricator’s windows and doors nationwide.

The new DAF 290CF 18-tonne boxed vehicle features built-in glass racks, six-way cameras – including cameras located internally to monitor cargo – upgraded lighting and sign writing, and the latest tail lifts that are designed to be tucked neatly away when not in use.

The vehicles also come with full air-conditioning and mod cons including a fridge and microwave, to provide a comfortable working environment for drivers out on the road.

“Our drivers travel the length and breadth of the country, spending hours on the road, delivering to our nationwide customer base. And we want them to be as efficient and comfortable as possible,” said Managing Director Ben Weber.

As part of Quickslide’s continued focus on efficiency, the entire logistics operation is linked to its EvoNET business management system, which arranges deliveries in the most efficient order and uses the vehicle’s sat-nav systems to provide the most efficient route. It also keeps customers up-to-date with the status of their delivery through automatic text messages and email alerts.

Ben added: “The fleet expansion, coupled with the recent development of the multi-faceted despatch planning platform and scanning stations, has given Quickslide’s OTIF (on-time-in-full) metric an additional boost, enabling us to further streamline production and make better planned deliveries to fulfil customer orders.

“We are committed to ensuring our infrastructure supports this high quality service our customers expect, which includes ongoing digital improvements and regularly upgrading our fleet with the latest vehicles like these, that are more capable, reliable and fuel efficient.”
