CDW SYSTEMS HELPS ALFRAM WITH SUSTAINABLE REGENERATION OF GLOUCESTER’S SHIRE HALL

CDW Systems, the specialist aluminium fabricator, recently lent their support to a multi-million-pound regeneration project at nearby Shire Hall, the headquarters of Gloucestershire County Council.

The Gloucester-based trade and commercial fabricator was tasked with manufacturing and supplying Sapa’s renowned Elegance 52 curtain walling.

Chosen for its versatility, efficiency and aesthetic appeal, the curtain walling system was installed in blocks two, three and six of the building, including Gloucester Police Station.

Working alongside commercial installer Alfram and Gloucestershire County Council, the new curtain walling is just one part of the large-scale renovation. The combination of Elegance 52, along with photovoltaic solar panels and DF 75 Si Reversible windows means Shire Hall meets the council’s energy usage aims, creating one of the most energy-efficient offices in England.

“With such a tight brief from Gloucestershire County Council and clear aims to improve the sustainability and performance of Shire Hall, we liaised with our longstanding supply partner CDW Systems to find the optimal curtain walling solution,” comments Chris Beacham, Director of Alfram and Contracts Manager for the project.

“Having worked with many curtain walling systems over the years, I can confidently say that Elegance 52 is the most complete curtain walling system we have used to date. CDW once again delivered for us on this project, with continued support from the initial conversation, right through to specification, supply and installation. Their help and expertise proved incredibly valuable in ensuring complex installations like Shire Hall are completed on time and to the correct specification.

”Richard Smith, Technical Director at CDW Systems adds: “We are absolutely delighted to support our customer Alfram on a wonderful, local regeneration project. With almost three decades of experience manufacturing Sapa products, we knew their Elegance 52 curtain walling delivered all the qualities necessary to meet the demands of this large-scale commercial development.

“We must congratulate Chris and the team at Alfram on a job well done. We are incredibly proud to help one of our local partners complete not only an eye-catching transformation but create what is now one of the most sustainable and progressive office buildings in the UK.”
