Window Ware provides perfect glazed-in louvres for commercial-to-residential conversion project

Award-winning independent hardware distributor Window Ware came up with the goods for an ambitious commercial-to-residential conversion project in London.

When one Bedfordshire-based fabricator won the contract to supply almost 300 brand-new triple glazed aluminium windows to help convert a former commercial unit called Irene House into residential flats, it turned to Window Ware to advise on and deliver the most appropriate glazed-in louvres.

The project demanded durable, custom-built glazed-in louvres with insulation blanking panels that were capable of meeting specified U-values. The intention was to connect the panels directly to ducting for the ventilation system via a round cut-out made onsite by the contractors to allow for adequate airflow to meet building regulations.

The look of the louvres also needed to match the finish of the specified SMARTs window system exactly.

Window Ware’s solution came in the form of bespoke DucoGrille Solid F30Z aluminium glazed-in louvres, supplied with A1 rated insulated blanking panels, and custom powder coated in SMARTS textured anthracite grey KL14ST for the perfect colour match. At 32mm thick, the louvres were thicker that the standard 28mm to suit the triple glazed glass panels specified in the project.

Every aspect of the hardware brief was met, even down to the 3-phase delivery schedule which matched the project timescales exactly.

This isn’t the first time that Window Ware has successfully supported this fabricator with custom louvres for commercial projects. And in every instance, the fabricator was won over by the high level of technical support and expertise they had received.

“Quoting for these kinds of specialist projects isn’t a 5-minute job,” explains Window Ware’s Business Development Manager for Aluminium, Rich Fraser. “We always take the time to understand the parameters of the installation properly and we’ll work closely with the contractor to verify specifications and make sure our solutions fulfil every requirement. A clear brief is always going to achieve the best possible outcome for the customer!”

“And when the project is complete, it’s great to see the pictures of the finished build with our louvres looking smart in their new home, each one fitting like a glove and doing their job perfectly!”

“Over the past two years, we’ve really worked hard to strengthen our offering to aluminium fabricators – not just in term of our product range, but also the support side too,” says Rich. “Being able to play a part in customer success stories like the Irene House project makes all the effort worthwhile.”

Window Ware has been successfully serving the window and door industry with leading brand hardware, tools, and consumables since 1987, helping to ensure fabricator production lines keep moving and trade counter shelves stay stocked.
