UAP Welcomes Specialist Online Business to the Group

UAP, a specialist in locks and hardware for doors and windows, continues to expand with the purchase of an online business.

The acquisition of Maher London, which manufactures door hardware, fixings, and decorating tools, is UAP’s second within the last two months. In December 2022, UAP snapped up Security Hardware from Eurocell PLC adding domestic PVC-U door and windows hardware to its growing product portfolio.

Sold exclusively via online retailers, including Amazon, Maher London’s products are supplied under three brands – XFORT, Sequal and Renov8.

The deal builds on an existing relationship which has seen UAP supply door hardware products to Maher London over the last 3 years.

“We have seen Maher London rapidly grow and have been impressed by the team’s specialist knowledge of online retailing,” explained Bonnie Hodson, Chief Financial Officer of UAP. “This expertise will significantly strengthen UAP’s online presence, both in the UK and overseas, and further broadens our product offering.

“Strategically, the acquisition means we can respond more effectively to the latest buying trends, which since the pandemic, have not only seen more consumers make online purchases, but tradespeople as well.”

Adnan Haruf, Director at Maher London said: “My business partner, Hassan Jamil, and myself built Maher London with a focus on offering our customers exceptional levels of service, quality and value.

“We have taken great pride in scaling up the company, especially the XFORT brand. Our ambition is to build XFORT’s reputation around the world, and with the backing of the UAP group, we are confident we can do just that.

“Since working with UAP, we have benefited from the team’s experience, product range and buying power. We are excited to be part of the group and to see all our brands thrive.”

Maher London is the fourth company to join UAP within recent years. Prior to acquiring Security Hardware in 2022, UAP purchased Newcastle-based Locking Systems in 2020, and Yorkshire-based Intelligent Hardware in 2019.

Continued Bonnie: “We have an ambitious growth strategy which means we are proactively identifying complementary businesses to join our group. Our aim is to develop an unrivalled product range, ensuring we can meet the needs of a broad range of customers while prioritising quality and customer service.”
