With a distinctly ‘green’ feel, Everglade Windows recently held their annual Everglade Windows Conference, with the support of their long time Systems Company partner, Kömmerling. The event was branded as ‘Valentis 2012’, and was attended by over 60 Valentis Partners eager to hear the company’s ideas and developments for the coming months and years. In what was a packed day, the Green Deal, lead generation and product development were some of the key topics under discussion.

Not one to stand still, composite door innovator Solidor, have just launched a new range of handmade traditional ironmongery through sister division, DorPro. The new range of handmade traditional ironmongery range includes a range of handles, knockers and letterplates in black and pewter. The new 5” ring door knocker makes a striking statement on Solidor’s solid timber core based slabs and due to it’s weight cannot be readily fitted on to lightweight foam filled GRP doors.

Conservatory Outlet dealers now have the option of promoting energy rated residential and composite doors following the development of these products by their Wakefield-based supplier. Synseal Synerjy fabricator Conservatory Outlet has been successful in achieving both an A-rating and a C-rating on residential doors, as well as energy ratings on both Door-Stop and Solidor composite doors. These doors will now complement energy rated windows and Energy Saving Trust Recommended windows in the company’s portfolio of thermally efficient products.

TWS Window and Door Systems have just celebrated their 20th anniversary and with it a new showroom, which exhibits Solidor’s entire collection of fourteen composite door colours in all their glory. The Kidderminster-based installation company was one of the first company’s back in 2005 to adopt the 2nd generation composite doors from Solidor and now arguably have the largest display in the region. TWS pride themselves on offering the latest products and backing this up with the values of a small family run business.

Birmingham based Royale Windows, was a finalist in the international photography competition for all customers of the profine Group, including the KBE and Kömmerling brands and with it won a digital photo frame. The competition was open to all KBE, Kömmerling and Trocal customers across Europe and included images from the retail, trade and commercial sectors. The competition was fiercely contested and the fact that Royale was a finalist was testament to their calibre of photography and the way they run their business.

Once again, there were few surprises in the Which? Report (Window Shopping, May issue), where a large sample of consumers rated independent window installers massively higher than any of the big four. It is very rewarding to see that the consensus of contempt for the worst elements of our industry continues to swing towards the major nationals. Independents as a whole are to be congratulated for this, especially as, in every other home improvement sector, it is still the small-time dodgers and bodgers who remain the ‘stars’ of the TV consumer programmes.
